What is this thing?

It is Halloween and there is a lot of talk about "ghosts and goblins." I have never known what a goblin is, so I looked it up on Wikipedia, and I am concerned because it sound a lot like me. Here goes:

"A goblin is an evil, crabby, or mischievous creature of folklore, often described as a grotesquely disfigured or gnome-like phantom, that may range in height from that of a dwarf to that of a human. They are attributed with various (sometimes conflicting) abilities, temperaments and appearances depending on the story and country of origin. In some cases goblins have been classified as constant annoying little creatures somewhat related with the celtic brownie."

Hmmmmmmm. SO, then of course I had to check out Wikipedia to find out a "brownie." The definition below is the consensus of what a "brownie" is. This type of mythological creature exists in the folklore of Scotland, England, Wales, Germany, and Scandanavia, each calling them different, names of course. (I guess the French don't like goblins or brownies either!) Here goes:

"Customarily brownies are said to inhabit houses and aid in tasks around the house. However, they do not like to be seen and will only work at night, traditionally in exchange for small gifts or food. They take quite a delight in porridge. In some places they are believed to protect the house and family at night. They usually abandon the house if the if the owners of the house misuse them. The House Elves featured in the Harry Potter series have characteristics of brownies."

Well, I am a night person and I do like oatmeal, and I love to have people give me food (by taking me to dinner,) BUT, I certainly don't do any of those household chores they mention! Perhaps I am from a "mixed marriage," part goblin and part brownie!
